I was asked recently if I’m a night owl. And I emphatically answered yes.
I’m at my most productive and creative late at night. With no interruptions. I love the peacefulness of a sleeping house, the phone and inbox free of almost all new notifications to distract me.
Especially after a long day at work, followed by all the home duties that begin as I step through the door (physically or metaphorically when working from home that is), night time is my time.
Earlier this week I stayed up later than I’d care to admit preparing for my latest podcast recording.
It’s been a while since I recorded a podcast episode, or interviewed at all for my blog or podcast. This recording was rather special too, not least because it’s the first of 2023 and my fresh approach to ‘A Fine Balance – The Podcast’.
It could even be considered Episode One of Series Two, if I dare.
The only problem I have with being a night owl is that I’m also an early bird. I love the early mornings, especially being awake to witness the first light of day. Sleep is the first thing I’ll sacrifice for this precious time of wakefulness, but it comes at a price.

Yesterday, I had a unique opportunity to spend the day at a wellness retreat, focussing on rest, detox and relaxation (including some dreamy and powerful power naps).

It was pure bliss and left me with the intended feeling of being “reset”, and energised. Which was useful preparation for staying up late (again) for the podcast recording, which took place with someone from a different timezone.
More to come on that soon…
